Performing its inaugural concert season in fall 2009, the Buffalo State Philharmonia is composed of Buffalo State music majors, non-music majors, faculty, area professional musicians, local music educators, and community enthusiasts who are committed to performing the symphonic repertoire at a high level.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for local music educators who participate in the Philharmonia Orchestra. Interested educators can register on the Continuing and Professional Studies Website or e-mail music@buffalostate.edu for more information.

Auditions

Auditions for the Buffalo State Philharmonia Orchestra are open to all students and community members.

The Buffalo State Philharmonia Orchestra seeks NEW MEMBERS for the Spring semester. Auditions are open to all students and community members and will be held for the following instruments: 

  • Violin, Viola, Oboe, Bassoon, Horn, Trombone, Tuba.

Audition for NEW MEMBERS: Monday, January 20, at 7:00. To arrange an audition, please contact lastrafa@buffalostate.edu

Audition Excerpts: In addition to the specific audition excerpt listed below, auditionees must prepare a short solo piece (three minutes maximum - piano accompaniment not required) that best reflects one's scope of ability and experience.

Auditions will consist of selections from the assigned repertoire excerpts and a solo piece.
